What's so special about this park?

Bring your pup to Cherry Creek and you'll feel like you're at the country club. The park is spacious with plenty of grass for your dog to do their business on and a nearby pond for them to cool off. There are trails for when you need some fresh air and want to take a break from all that playing. Plus, there's plenty of water and food dishes as well as shade trees.

It's also right by downtown, making it easy to visit after a long day at work. If you want to go on a little adventure, consider taking your dog down one of Denver's many breweries or around City Park.

You won't regret visiting Cherry Creek and neither will your pup!

Where is it located?

The Cherry Creek Dog Park is located near downtown Denver, Colorado and sits on 25 acres. This dog park was originally constructed for the children of residents who live nearby to have a place to play. Now, it serves as a popular gathering place for people and their canine companions. The Cherry Creek Dog Park can hold up to 2,000 dogs at one time. It includes many different areas so that all sizes of dogs have a space they feel comfortable in.

The dog park is bordered by Cherry Creek, University Boulevard, and E. Bayaud Avenue. The entrance is off of Bayaud just east of Smith Road. The entrance can be identified by a small sign located on a telephone pole that says Cherry Crk BP. There are signs posted at most intersections to help direct you to get there.

Why should you visit this place?

Everyone knows that we're dog people here at Shiba Shack, so it should come as no surprise that you can find your doggy friends and fellow dog lovers at Cherry Creek Dog Park. The park provides a safe, fenced-in area for you and your pup to have a ball with all sorts of fun things like swimming pools, toy props, water catch basins and a lagoon. There are also two parks within easy walking distance of each other so you can go out on one big adventure together.

This park is great for everyone from pups that are new to their leashes and need some practice to those that have been off-leash for years. With so many options and a friendly, active community, Cherry Creek Dog Park provides an excellent place for you and your pup to meet other people, get exercise and make some friends.

How do you get there?

If you're traveling from the South, take I-25 North to Broadway Exit, go east on Broadway until you reach Cherry Creek Drive and turn left. Proceed down the hill, cross over the bridge and make a right at 21st Street. You'll see 17th Avenue to your left and stop light for Wadsworth Blvd.

Cherry Creek is a great place to meet fellow dog owners. There are lots of people around who love dogs and would be willing to make friends with you while they're walking them. You might also find other folks who just want to sit and watch your dog play or exchange ideas about where else you can go. That's fun for both you and your pooch.

What can you expect when you arrive?

Upon arrival at Cherry Creek Dog Park, you will be greeted by a field of natural grass and plenty of drinking fountains and benches for humans. There are plenty of areas where people can let their dogs run around off-leash, and most parts have water features or shade trees. Beware--the majority is an off-leash zone, so use caution when letting your dog wander if they're not completely comfortable without their leash on.

While there are plenty of dogs to meet and greet, please remember that Cherry Creek Dog Park is a public park, so other non-dog-related activities may also be taking place. Watch your dog while they're playing; you don't want to lose them among all those four-legged friends!

The History of Cherry Creek Dog Park - Third Paragraph: The history of Cherry Creek Dog Park is short and sweet. The park originally opened as a fenced-in area for dogs back in 2003.
