Dog Training Aberdeen

The following are a few of the most popular dog training methods that we employ:

  • Clicker Training - This method involves the use of a handheld device called a "clicker" to mark desired behaviors. The clicker is paired with food rewards over several training sessions so that when you click, your dog associates it with getting treats. Once your dog learns this association, it becomes easy for them to know what behaviors are wanted. For instance, if you want your dog to learn how to sit, you can lure them into a sitting position using food and then click when they get there. They will associate the click with sitting and thus learn that sitting is desirable behavior. Clicker training can be useful for teaching many types of behaviors in dogs and other animals.

  • Positive Reinforcement - In positive reinforcement training, you give your dog rewards whenever they perform the desired behavior, such as petting or giving a treat at first, and then gradually decreasing frequency/amount over time so that eventually just verbal praise is sufficient reward on its own; this helps speed up the learning process by always reinforcing good behavior while never reinforcing bad behavior (which could lead them down the wrong path if not corrected early enough). It's important not to punish them when they do something wrong because punishment only teaches what NOT to do instead of teaching what SHOULD do instead (e.g., scolding a dog for barking will not teach him how to stop barking but only make him afraid to bark again). A common mistake people make when trying to train their pets through positive reinforcement methods without professional assistance from someone who knows what they're doing firsthand is giving inconsistent feedback or rewards after every single attempt at performing the desired action rather than rewarding intermittently so as not lose interest over time which leads our next point...

Can I train my puppy?

Yes! You can actually start training your puppy from between four and six weeks old. However, bear in mind that this will take time and lots of patience! It is also important to remember that dogs are most receptive to training when they are between six and sixteen weeks old, so this is the ideal time to begin teaching simple commands – particularly if they have been adopted from a rescue center or re-homed by their previous owners during this period.
